You ever judge people by their music collection?
As a young teenage lassie, I was introducing my Madonna and Billy Ocean-loving friends to the genius and depth of Pink Floyd or how much Whitesnake and Queensryche rock. I remember having a heated conversation with my little sister. I was probably 16 and she was 11. She heard Queen's "Under Pressure" and shouted "Oh my God! They totally ripped off Vanilla Ice!" Um, yeah.
Ever since I was a little girl, I've had a musical routine. I'd reach down next to my bed. There'd be a massive cascading pile of cassette tapes in front of my cherished and prestigious dual-cassette recorder boom box. I was forever making mix tapes for other people. Over the years, the technology has advanced where I'm all UP in iTunes doing the same damn thing.
I'm convinced people need to be rescued from the doldrums of Top 40 radio and be introduced to incredibly crafted music to broaden their musical landscape.
I'm going to do my best to contribute and also, hopefully be introduced to lots more unknown music and info, too. My Blog spot is called Music for the Cooler People! :-D
In the meantime, I found this song on Pandora that was such an amazing song! Unfortunately, the CD was discontinued and is not sold on iTunes. I HATE when that happens!
Anyway, Amazon's USED bin came through and I got my CD in the mail today. What a great CD! Why was it discontinued? Anyway, if you can come across it (it's on Facebook's iLike Music app), check out Quintus "Old Guitar." The whole album is really good. It's catchy, it's got a nice driving bass line throughout, and it just sounds damn good.
I'm new at this blog thing so I'll do my best to make each entry fun and interesting - and hopefully, something worth reading on a continual basis. Thanks for checking me out!
Allison
